Her journey through the book is one of discovery—discovering her voice, her power, her privilege, and how she can and must use all three to make her world a better place.

The late Kay Forrest's work stands alone as a general history of the Pilbara during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

While the content is reasonably comprehensive, it is essentially a traditional "settler history" and therefore lacks sufficient emphasis on key distinctions in historical experiences (e.g. indigenous/European; pastoralists/pearlers; capital/labour and so on)/5.

I think this was a really stupid book. Use of etc., over emphasis on Iraq and Middle East etc. would project an image of bias. The bit on CO2 and global warming was good, but the rest of the book was all WND and that jazz. I would rat it 1/2 a star given the chance/5(10).

Other challenges that emerge from this book include a better understanding of the contextuality and perspectival character of chance (including its scale-dependence), and the curious fact that, throughout history (including contemporary science), chance has been used both as an explanation and as a hallmark of the absence of explanation.5/5(4).
